Estonia's leading cloud service provider, WaveCom, has successfully completed the ISO 9001 and 27001 standard renewal process this fall. Additionally, WaveCom has become the first in Estonia to obtain the ISO/IEC 27017 certification. This additional certification affirms the company's commitment to offering services that comply with high information security standards.

The capacity of WaveCom's core network and external IP Transit connections has quintupled in the last two years. Due to the corona crisis, the growing demand for server and cloud services globally overnight did not leave Estonian companies untouched. The volume of AS WaveCom's cloud service contracts in Estonia increased almost five times in the second half of the year.

For WaveCom, the year 2020 can be considered primarily meaningful and action-packed. In particular, we collectively focused on improving the quality of cloud services, and this also showed positive results. In the second half of the year, the volume of cloud service contracts in the Estonian market increased almost fivefold.

Due to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Estonia for at least the next two weeks, we have switched to remote work. Daily we have a technician in the data-center to solve potential problems. Data-center visits are currently suspended, and if necessary, we will help you resolve the issues. 

PHP is a programming language that is being used in websites, which generates needed HTML content that the user needs. PHP updates itself continuously. Most of contents management systems like Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal are written in PHP and they always require the newest PHP version. Some of the older versions are also supported but with the new generation versions everything works more optimized – faster and more secure.

2019 was a very successful year for WaveCom, with the main results being a nearly 30% year-on-year increase in fixed services revenue primarily in the technology business segment, ISO 27001 information security and availability certification, and significant increase in data center technical capabilities and security.

WaveCom AS has produced tutorial videos on the VMware vCloud Director environment. The purpose of these videos is to support customer use of WaveCom Services. There are currently four tutorial videos available.

In 2020, Apple and Google announced that their browsers only trust SSL certificates that are valid for up to one year. Following this announcement, certificate manufacturers began to issue only one-year certificates, which caused additional inconvenience to customers. Fortunately, in addition to the above, certificate manufacturers began to find ways to make customer services safer, more convenient, and less expensive.

WaveCom AS, the provider of data centre and cloud services, has been awarded the information security and availability certificate ISO 27001 in September 2019. In addition, the company renewed its quality management certificate ISO 9001 to meet the high standard of international requirements.

This year, Creditinfo Eesti AS gave us for the first time an AAA (excellent) credit rating, which is the highest. We have been operating successfully for 17 years now and such recognition will definitely motivate us to continue to operate at the same level in the future.

Yesterday marked our 17th year of operation. Over the course of 7 years, we have accomplished a lot: we started in 2001 by establishing a wireless network, and in 2011 our first server center was completed in Tallinn. Today, we are recognized as a leading provider of server and cloud services.

We recently celebrated WaveCom’s 16th birthday and also the fact that Creditinfo Eesti AS gave us an AA (very good) credit rating.

We are now using only network devices with 10Gbit speeds (10GbE). It is a big step forward, from the 1Gbit devices we were using before.

We are now using new servers and a modern software platform for our webhosting services. Servers are located in fast SSD data storage and use modern Centos 7 / Clodlinux 7 software platform.

WaveCom is happy to announce that we have acquired TorqHost cloud and private server services. TorqHost has been active on the market since 2007 and has a noteworthy customer portfolio. Like WaveCom they offer most of their services abroad.

The IPv4 addresses that have been used since the beginning of the Internet are running out, and in 2012 the European IP network coordination center, RIPE, distributed the last block of IPv4 addresses to them. Therefore, it is expected that the adoption and larger transition to IPv6 will occur in the coming years.
