Modern data center
Ambition to offer even better quality services to our customers has forced us to look for a new server center. As a result of long searches, we were convinced that none of the existing data centers meet our high standarts and we decided to build a brand new data center that would not be affected by electrical or communication interruptions that would be dust free and where all security risks would be reduced. Today, the new center is ready and we want to introduce it to you as well.
The interior finishing of the building goes hand in hand with our technical updates – it will be futuristic, sparkling and shiny, white and crisp in appearance. The server centre was built in compliance with strict TIER and ISKE requirements. Shortly after datacenter deployment Bureau Veritas recognized our managment and processes worthy with ISO:9001 standard. Now we are after PCI and ISO:27001 sertification
There is an ultramodern access system in the centre, like those you’ve probably only seen in movies: it includes fingerprint and finger vein ID as well as facial recognition.
Every possible corner is covered with digital, microwave and infrared sensors, and, with the help of facial recognition, the modern system makes sure that people only move in the areas of the building where they are permitted. The security system that is being installed meets FBI quality assurance standards.
The equipment cabinets will be equipped with locks and sensors, and the alarm system can only be disarmed using RFID cards. The entire area is also covered with an automatic gaseous fire suppression that is harmless to people.
The server centre must always be as clean as a whistle. To avoid any dust getting in, one must wear clothes that don't attract dust when entering the center. On entry a special machine covers footwear with strong plastic film.
In the new building, an innovative multi-layered Schneider system, in which the water circulated for cooling is, in turn, cooled by the outdoor temperature. At least Estonia’s cool climate comes in handy here!
The cooling is made even more efficient by the fact that the cabinets are installed in a Schneider APC modular system. Enclosed cold air corridors are used, from which the server cabinets pull in cold air. The warm air is expelled behind the cabinet into a warm air corridor, and from there it is directed out of the room for re-cooling.
The equipment park, for which all the equipment has been sourced from Schneider Electric /APC equipment, is unique in Estonia, because there an equivalent data centre does not yet exist. In addition to ultra-high-quality equipment, the Schneider system also has a special software management platform. This makes managing the system easier. The server centre can even be managed from a smart phone. And the smart monitoring robot reports any problems by phone. The software can visualise the data centre on a 3D map, which enables running ‘what if” analyses.
Uninterruptible Power Supply
We are not willing not give an inch when it comes to the quality of our server hosting and cloud services – your data must always be available you. Therefore, in our new building, we are guaranteeing the power supply with two separate Schneider Galaxy UPS units and power rooms that are connected to two different substations. If one of the substations breaks down, the automatic system switches to the other substation. In the unlikely event that both should break down, the generator will automatically start up.
All the server cabinets in our data centre are equipped with two Schneider/APC Smart UPS units, each of which is fed from a different power room. In some of the cabinets we use power switches that offer dual input power supplies even if the units have only single power input.
Our self-service feature enables server hosting and private server clients to manage the power supply and to see the level of their power consumption.
Three separate fibre-optic cables, with a transmission speed of 60Gbit/s, run from the data centre to Estonia’s most important communication centres. We also provide our clients access to the connections of other operators. Just in case, the optic cable is duplicated by a network of ultra-high-speed radio links.
There are three Cisco Nexus Data Center switches in the data centre, with an expansion module in each cabinet that is connected to a 2 x 10 Gbit base system. The minimal speed of each client’s port is 1 Gbit/s.
